Alfred Eisenstaedt "Eugene Brown, a Business Major at Howard University" Tee

$50.00

Description

Our heavyweight cotton Alfred Eisenstaedt "Eugene Brown, a Business Major at Howard University" Tee features a silkscreen printed candid portrait by the legendary German photojournalist. In 1946, Eisenstaedt was commissioned by LIFE magazine to document daily campus life at the prestigious Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Howard University.

Notably, our founder and creative director’s mother, after whom Gilda George Tennis Club is named, was accepted into Howard. This is the same alma mater as U.S. Madam Vice President Kamala Harris and civil rights activist Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture), who popularized the phrase “Black Power” in the 1960s and 1970s.
